第二章〔4〕
今回は問題数が多い（18問）。重要と思われる設問2つを2点の配点として、20点満点中12点。
今回はいくつか間違えた箇所もさることながら、設問には直接関係がなかったもののtoo〜toの構文を見抜けなかったことがショック。
途中に、"I was in too much of a hurry to find out about hotels." という文があって、忙しいからさっさとホテルを探さないと、という意味に受け取ってしまったのだ。当然、その次の文章とは噛み合わず、あれ？ と思った（けれども気づかなかった）。
tooのあとにto不定詞がくるとは限らないから、これは構文の問題というよりもtooという言葉の理解の問題かも知れない。「〜し過ぎるから〜できない」という否定の意味の込められた言葉なのだ。書きかえれば "I was so hurry that I didn't find out about hotels." とでもなろうか。「忙しくて探している時間がなかった」という意味。

- 7月30日のon holidayの類似表現。同じところで間違えた。
- He went to Shizuoka on business. = 彼は仕事で静岡に行った
- No admittance except on business. = 無用の者立ち入り禁止
- frightened = おびえている
- She is frightened of snakes. = 彼女は蛇を怖がる
- The president is frightened of losing power. = 大統領は権力を失うのを恐れている
- She was frightened at the sight of it. = 彼女はその光景を恐ろしがった
- annoy = いらいらさせる、うるさがらす
- I was annoyed by his interruptions. = I was annoyed with him for his interruptions. = 彼がたびたび口を挟むので腹が立った
- find it〜 = それが〜だとわかる
- I found the book tedious. = I found that the book was tedious. = その本は退屈だった
- You will find it hard to solve the problem. = その問題を解くのは難しいことがわかるでしょう
- look forward to 名詞 = 〜を楽しみに待つ（expect）
- I'm looking forward to meeting your father. = お父さんにお会いするのを楽しみにしています
- too〜to do = あまりに〜過ぎて〜できない
- The book was too difficult for me to read. = The book was so difficult that I couldn't read it. = その本は難し過ぎて僕にはわからなかった
- He's not too young to see the reason. = 彼はその理由がわからないほど幼くはない
- The news is too good to be true. = 本当とは思えないほど良い知らせだ
